Task 2 - Secondary audience research and publishing
The XXL media kit provides advertisers with information to see whether or not they should display their product(s) in XXL magazine. To do this, XXL has provided us with intel on the general reader of the magazine (and target audience). It tells us the age, gender and even the estimated income of the reader, their hobbies, interests and the way they lead their lives is explored in XXL's media pack with great detail. There is little information about the magazine itself in the start of the entire pack. However, there is enough provided to give advertisers a quick sense of what they are getting themselves into, the amount of publications per year and the circulation are both shown to the advertiser, the display rate is also given for clients who may be genuinely interested.
Furthermore, the media pack supplies the age, gender and even the estimated income of the typical reader. Their hobbies, interest and the way they lead their lives is explored and elaborated in great detail within the XXL media kit. The audience's involvement in the hip hop/ rap genre is also explained so the advertiser will have a clear understanding of who exactly they will be showing their product to.
Another concept which is briefly touched upon in this section is the attention the magazine receives by the target audience, it is stated that "XXL is the No.1 selling ABC-audited music publication on newsstands worldwide and is the premier hip-hop media brand" this makes the magazine more credible as a medium to 'disperse' any type of product.
Examples of front covers are also displayed in XXL's media kit, it allows the advertiser to have a rough impression of what is appealing to the target audience, who are also potential customers. Would this magazine's distribution of the product be an effective selling technique?
Task 2 - XXL DPS
This is my analysis of the XXL double page spread, I was able to list the connotations being suggested by what I was seeing. I also mentioned the conventional features which would be put into a magazine of my chosen genre.
Task 2 - XXL contents
the XXL contents page had similarities to the RWD contents, these similarities will also be used when I'm creating the contents for my own rap magazine.
Task 2 - XXL front cover
the second case study i will be posting is based on XXL, a well known magazine in the rap genre, the front cover, contents page and double page spread will all be shown just like with the RWD magazine. the front cover clearly covers the conventions and expectations of a rap based magazine.
Task 2 - RWD contents
This is an analysis of the RWD contents page, as you can see it follows the conventions of a normal magazine contents page
Task 2 - RWD front cover
for my case studies I analysed both XXL magazine and RWD online magazine, RWD does lack features such as barcodes or QR codes but still carries many of the conventions of a physical magazine such as XXL.

Task 2- genre choice
The genre I have chosen as a theme for my magazine will be UK rap. This is because UK rap is a modern (some may say new) genre which I personally enjoy listening to and have listened to throughout my teenage years. As a young man living in London, attributes like daily struggles and emerging from a lesser position is inspiring for us young people who live in such a heavily populated city, there is a constant sense of competition and high standards and music enables us to leave that reality even if it is for a moment. UK rap is a genre which is also not very commonly represented or featured in magazines, this genre is not necessarily directed towards a niche audience but at the same is not extremely popular. It will definitely be something unique and exciting to work on as a project and I thoroughly look forward to providing people with an insight to something which i believe everybody is somewhat associated with.

My name is Hanni Khemdoudi, in this AS media course I am looking forward to working throughout the entirety of the course. if I have to pick an aspect which I am looking forward to the most during the course, I would say the photography side. I say this because I believe that photography is a creative way for people to send 'messages' to one another using still images. Graphic design is also very fascinating as it allows people to further alter the message that they want to send to an audience, which is very important in media as a whole.
